In our project supported by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, we have been asking people in different communities to ‘tell the bees’ about the people, relationships or objects that are important to them. The response has been overwhelming. The messages range from the deeply personal, to expressions of care for family members, to statements about animals, plants and places.

As we gather more of these messages, an archive is growing that seems to be telling us something important about the relationships that are valued by the people in Copenhagen.Working with researchers at Copenhagen University and the IT University we want to explore how we can turn these messages into a dialogue with the bees. We have misgivings about AI, but what are there ethical ways to use technology that can help us to understand the connections in our community better? Now that the bees know so much about us, what would we like to ask them?
